The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. established the KTDC Training Centre on 17 August 2007 at the KTDC Corporate Office in Thiruvananthapuram. The basic objective of the training centre is to provide training in hospitality operations and management. The training centre has state-of-art training facilities for conduct of theoretical classes and basic laboratory for practical input providing trainees/students with requisite skills and knowledge. The centre is endowed with a pool of professionally qualified faculty whose expertise is unchallenged and supported by competent staff.
The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation Ltd, the largest hotel chain in Kerala having hotels in the premium, standard and basic segments, motels, restaurants, and wine & beer parlours provides excellent opportunity for education and training in hospitality areas which is beyond comparison and on par with industry requirements. KTDC has established a Regional Training Centre at Kalady to supplement training and course activities in the Central Region of the state. In addition, KTDC has established a College of Hotel Management at Kalpetta, Wayanad affiliated to the Bharathiar University as a technical collaboration which will commence courses in Hotel Management and Catering Technology. This institute will also provide training for the hospitality employees in the northern part of the state.
The employees are trained in technical and behavioural skills to enhance the performance standard to the required level. Various training programmes are designed for all category of employees ranging form core hospitality trades to supervisory & managerial function and support areas like personal administration, accounts, marketing, maintenance and travel & tours.
KTDC offers custom-made training programmes in hospitality operations and management for public and private sector, as well as NGO's, social organizations and even community group.
At present, KTDC conducts skill development courses for the Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India and the Govt. of Kerala. The Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India has instituted a skill development training course namely ‘Hunar Se Rozgar Tak’ to empower the under privileged youth of the country ensuring economic benefit through employment generation and to reduce the skill gap that affects the hospitality sector.
KTDC has joined hands with the Scheduled Caste Development Department, Government of Kerala to provide skill development training course titled "Certificate in Hospitality Skill". This course is meant only for the scheduled caste youth enabling them to acquire skills in hospitality trade providing them better livelihood and economic benefit through employment generation.

The Ministry of Tourism (MoT) & Government of India launched a skill development training course in hospitality trade. The skill development training course, namely Hunar Se Rozgar Tak (HSRT) is being conducted by Kerala Tourism Development Corporation in seven hotels across Kerala. KTDC has initiated a skill development training course on hospitality trade namely Certificate in Hospitality Skill. The three courses in this programme are Professional Cookery, Food & Beverage Service and Housekeeping Operations. The courses are well designed which provides basic theoretical knowledge and practical skills respectively. The duration of the course is two months at present which is likely to be extended.
Presently, KTDC entered into an agreement with Scheduled Caste Development Department, Government of Kerala to conduct the course for the underprivileged youth of the scheduled caste community. The course is free of cost. The students are also provided Uniform, Food, Accommodation, Learning Material etc. free of charge.
The skill development course is titled "Certificate in Hospitality Skill". Three courses are conducted at two centers as stated.

kerala Tourism Development Corporation Ltd. has established a hospitality institute at Kalpetta, Wayanad district. The college is a study centre of the Bharatiar University.
